Update: Dog Rescued, Firefighter Injured From 5-Alarm Fire At Townsend Home
Firefighters responded to the five-alarm fire at 205 Main Street (Route 119) around 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 12, according to a Facebook post from the Townsend Fire Department.
Heavy smoke was seen coming from the multi-family home, which has five bedrooms, two bathrooms and is estimated at $471,000, according to a Zillow listing.
While everyone was able to get out safely, a search of the home determined that one of the tenant's dogs was still inside, Ashby Fire said on Facebook.
Crews eventually found the dog and brought it to safety. He is expected to be okay.
Meanwhile one firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment, Ashby Fire said. Their injuries were unspecified.
