Search for New Jersey man wanted for alleged involvement in Jan. 6 riot enters 2nd day

The search for a suspect the Federal Bureau of Investigation said is wanted for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the U.S. Capitol building entered its second day on Thursday.

The Jamesburg Police Department said officers, along with the FBI, are searching for Gregory Yetman.

The FBI said it is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest.

Authorities said the manhunt began Wednesday in New Jersey.

The search was focused near the Middlesex County town of Helmetta, according to the FBI.

Yetman was described as a white man in his 40s. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 218 pounds, and has on his back between his shoulders.

Yetman was last seen wearing a red jacket and a ball cap.

Authorities said he might be armed.

"We are asking the public with information on his whereabouts to call FBI Newark," police noted on social media.

USA Today reported Yetman fled his home in Helmetta on Wednesday morning "after FBI agents and local police attempted to serve him with an arrest warrant."

The media outlet previously reported that Yetman -- a former military police sergeant in the New Jersey National Guard -- the was interviewed by the FBI about his connection to the riot, adding that he is suspected of pepper spraying protesters and police officers.
