Scott Clayton Exits WME For UTA

Publish date: 2024-10-19

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Scott Clayton, the Nashville-based Co-head of music at WME has left the agency.

According to Variety, Clayton is headed to rival United Talent Agency, however the agency has not officially announced his hire or what role he will take there.

It is also unclear if Clayton’s powerhouse roster, including artists such as Dead & Company, Kings of Leon, Zac Brown Band, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and John Mayer, will follow him to his new gig.

One of the most influential agents in the business, Clayton spent the better part of two decades at Creative Artists Agency before he made the jump to WME in 2017, assuming a co-leadership role at the agency alongside longtime WME vet Marc Geiger and Sara Newkirk Simon.

Geiger left WME last summer and Newkirk Simon transitioned to a role at WME’s parent Endeavor in the early days of the pandemic.

In the wake of their departures, veteran agents Lucy Dickins stepped into the leadership role, along with Clayton and Kirk Sommer, who has held the post since 2015.

WME confirmed Clayton’s departure with a rep telling CelebrityAccess: “We appreciate all of Scott’s contributions to the agency over the past four years and wish him all the best.”
