Hooversville man accused of sexually assaulting teen while she slept
SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Somerset County say a Hooversville man is behind bars following an investigation into allegations that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl.
Police say in February, troopers were contacted to investigate reports of sexual abuse at a residence along Maple Avenue, in Hooversville Borough.
Investigators say the victim, a 13-year-old girl, told troopers that she was staying at the home of a relative and was repeatedly assaulted by the relative's boyfriend, identified as 27-year-old Travis Taresco.
According to the affidavit, the alleged assaults occurred while the child was sleeping.
Police say the victim also told troopers that Taresco had allegedly groped her, on at least one occasion.
According to online court records, Taresco was arraigned Friday on several charges, including attempted rape of an unconscious victim, attempted statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, and corruption of minors.
He is being held in the Somerset County Jail on $25,000 bail.
