Punxsutawney man charged with girlfriend's murder in Jefferson County shooting case

Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — A 20-year-old Punxsutawney man has been charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend in Jefferson County.
State police have charged Dakota Greeley with criminal homicide, murder and terroristic threats.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, Greeley shot and killed Trisha Renee Cole Thursday morning on Coyote Drive in Clover Township.
At about 10:25 a.m. Thursday, police reportedly found Greeley near Coyote Drive where he fired two shots from his rifle, according to the affidavit.
Police returned fire and Greeley allegedly fled onto Dickey Road in a pickup truck.
He was later detained after he crashed the vehicle into a wooded area and fled on foot, according to the affidavit.
He was treated at the scene by medical personnel, who he allegedly threatened to kill, before being transported to Penn Highlands Dubois.
Greeley allegedly admitted to shooting Cole, and chuckled and said “it was in my hand” when asked by authorities where the gun was, according to the affidavit.
Police found Cole’s body in the middle of Coyote Drive with a gunshot wound to the head and a tire track on her body, according to the affidavit.
Greeley is being held in the Jefferson County Jail and his bail was denied.

According to our 6 News crew, the area of Dickey Road, off of Route 949, near Summerville, is blocked off as authorities continue to investigate.
The Jefferson County coroner is on scene, as well as state police.

Authorities in Jefferson County say a homicide investigation is underway following a shooting in Clover Township Thursday.
According to a news release, troopers were dispatched for reports that an unidentified man had shot another individual and then fled the scene.
Police say when troopers arrived on scene, the suspect had reportedly returned and led authorities on a foot chase.
Troopers say the suspect was apprehended and is currently in police custody.
Authorities say there is no threat to the public and the investigation remains active.
State police have not provided any additional information about the location and/or time of the incident, and the identity of those involved has not yet been released.
