Started Off With A Toy Racing Car
Oscar Jack Piastri was born on April 6, 2001. His father, Chris Piastri, understood his son’s interest and talent in motorsport and supported Oscar’s dream. Chris told SMH that he brought a remote control monster truck for Oscar from his business trip to the USA, and this was where it all started.
Oscar began his karting career in 2011, followed by competing in European and other CIK-FIA-sanctioned karting championships. His initial mentor was former Australian karting champion James Sera who taught him for two years. At the age of 14, Piastri went on his first big foreign adventure to compete in an international karting competition at Le Mans, France, and finished third. It was clear from the beginning that Oscar had the talent and ability to ace in motorsport career. Another racer who made it to F1 is Logan Sargeant.
Funded By HP Tuners
Many of the racers are self-funded and are always looking for sponsors. As for Oscar Piastri, he landed his first major sponsorship from HP Tuners, a company owned by his father, Chris Piastri. Although his dad helped fund his career, the amount of money increased as the competition increased. So they had to seek other sponsors.
The Piastri family had to find about 500,000 euros to get on the grid for F3 with the Prema team, so they turned to ex-F1 racer Mark Webber and his partner Ann. Webber negotiated the final contract with Prema, helped Piastri with his sponsorship, and was confident in his protege.

In June 2022, it was revealed that Oscar would be driving for Williams in 2023 on loan from Alpine, but Oscar rejected the announcement via Twitter post.
I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.
