Welcome to a gallery of mysterious photos that scientists cannot explain. This collection includes a variety of puzzling photographs that have stumped both experts and enthusiasts for many years. The photos feature mysterious ghosts and unidentified flying objects, making this gallery a showcase of the most enigmatic and unexplainable images ever captured on film. Whether you are skeptical or a believer in the paranormal, these photographs are guaranteed to capture your imagination and leave you wondering about the mysteries of our world.
As you explore this gallery, be ready to experience various emotions as you encounter the unknown. You will see pictures of unidentified creatures, strange apparitions, and unusual phenomena that defy explanation. We encourage you to take a closer look at each photo and ask yourself: what is happening here? Are you prepared to investigate the unexplainable? Then let's get started.
(reddit)The Solway Firth Spaceman has become something of a legend in the decades since fireman, photographer, and local historian Jim Templeton captured a photograph that appeared to depict a mysterious figure lurking in the background. Templeton claimed that, at the time the photo was taken on May 23, 1964, the only other individuals on the marshes were a pair of elderly women sitting in a car some distance away. In a letter to the Daily Mail almost four decades later, Templeton explained that he had taken three photos of his daughter in a similar pose, only to discover that the second image showed what appeared to be an extraterrestrial being looming behind his child. Despite insisting that he had not seen the figure at the time, analysts at Kodak confirmed that the photograph was authentic.
Yet UFO book author David Clarke has a different interpretation of the photo. According to Clarke, the "spaceman" is most likely Templeton's wife, Annie, who was present during the shoot and appeared in another photograph from the same day. "I think for some reason his wife walked into the shot and he didn't see her because with that particular make of camera you could only see 70% of what was in the shot through the viewfinder," Clarke explained. Annie was wearing a pale blue dress and had dark, bobbed hair that may have appeared unusual under the conditions in which the photo was taken. When the image is darkened and the horizon is straightened using photo software, the figure in the photo appears more and more like an ordinary person viewed from behind, casting doubt on the supernatural interpretation of the Solway Firth Spaceman.
Is This Widow's Late Husband Still Protecting Her From Beyond?
(reddit)The mysterious photo in question shows what appears to be the ghost of a woman's deceased husband standing behind her as she mourns. However, it's important to keep in mind that digital photography works differently from traditional analog cameras. Digital cameras take pictures in stages, so moving objects can sometimes appear distorted or blurred in the final image. This is especially true in low-light conditions where the camera needs more time to gather enough visual data. This means that while the photo may seem to show a ghostly figure, it could just be an artifact of the camera's capture process.
Fairy Circles
(reddit)A fairy ring - also known as an elf circle, pixie ring, or elf ring - is a natural phenomenon that occurs when a ring or arc of mushrooms appears in the wild. These curious formations can be found in forested areas, as well as grasslands or rangelands, and are steeped in folklore and mythologies from around the world, particularly in Western Europe. These circles have been ascribed a host of supernatural connotations, with some viewing them as malevolent, even demonic, locations where witches and other dark forces are said to congregate. Conversely, others associate fairy rings with good fortune, believing that they can bring luck and abundance to those who encounter them. Regardless of one's interpretation, there's no denying that fairy rings are one of nature's more fascinating and mysterious phenomena.
Unraveling The Mystery Of The Black Knight
(reddit)The Black Knight is a legendary object that UFO enthusiasts believe to be an extraterrestrial satellite that has been orbiting Earth for more than 13,000 years. However, its origins are not very clear. Some people think that the Black Knight is made up of many stories about different things in space that have been mixed together, but none of those stories mention the Black Knight. People have tried to find the source of the myth, and some believe that it comes from radio experiments that Nikola Tesla did in 1899 or from strange echoes heard by an amateur radio operator named Jorgen Hals in Norway in 1928.
However, some people are not convinced by these explanations. They think that Tesla's signals might have been pulsars, which were not discovered until 70 years later. Some photographic evidence has also been doubted, like pictures taken by astronauts in 1998 that were thought to show the Black Knight, but were actually just a lost thermal blanket. In the end, we may never know what the Black Knight really is, and it may continue to be a mystery that we cannot explain. Senior education support officer Martina Redpath of Armagh Planetarium in Northern Ireland noted:
Black Knight is a jumble of completely unrelated stories; reports of unusual science observations, authors promoting fringe ideas, classified spy satellites and people over-interpreting photos. These ingredients have been chopped up, stirred together and stewed on the internet to one rambling and inconsistent dollop of myth. The Unknown Grim Sleeper Women
(CBS)Lonnie David Franklin Jr., also known as the Grim Sleeper, was a serial killer who committed at least 10 murders and one attempted murder in Los Angeles from 1984 to 2007. In 2010, he was arrested as a suspect and, after numerous delays, his trial began in 2016. Ultimately, he was convicted of killing nine women and a teenage girl.
The Los Angeles Police believe that Franklin may have been responsible for even more murders and are asking for help from the public in identifying the women in some of the photographs he possessed. Investigators discovered nearly 1,000 photos and hundreds of hours of video showing women, many of them partially or completely disrobed and in sexually suggestive poses. Detectives tried to identify the women in the pictures, but after months of investigation, the department decided to release some of the images to the public in hopes that someone would recognize the women and contact the authorities.
A Mysterious Time Traveler At The South Forks Bridge Opening
In 2004, the Barlorne-Pioneer Museum displayed an exhibit called "Their Past Lives Here," which included a photo that had been hidden from public view. The photo was taken in 1941, during the reopening of Canada's South Fork Bridge. In 2010, the museum digitized its collection and made it available online, and some internet users noticed something unusual in the photo: one of the men appeared to be wearing clothes that were too modern for the time period. This sparked a conspiracy theory that the man was a time traveler. However, further investigation revealed that the man's clothes, including a logo t-shirt, wrap-around sunglasses, and a small portable camera, were all available in the 1940s. Therefore, the theory of a time traveler is not supported by the evidence available.
The Tulip Staircase Ghost
(reddit)The Queen's House, located in the heart of London, has been a subject of fascination for generations. In 1966, a retired Canadian reverend and his wife were among the many visitors to the famous Tulip Staircase, and they took a photograph to commemorate their visit. It wasn't until they returned home and developed the photo that they realized something was amiss: a shrouded figure seemed to be ascending the stairs in pursuit of one or two others.
Upon further inspection, the Hardys were certain that the staircase had been empty at the time the photograph was taken, and a subsequent investigation failed to uncover any rational explanation for the mysterious apparition. As the Reverend later wrote in a letter, the enigma of the Tulip Staircase remained as inscrutable as ever, defying all attempts to explain the seemingly inexplicable. It's just one of many enigmas that haunt the Queen's House, a place where the line between fact and fiction can be difficult to discern.
The Terrifying Skunk Ape
(reddit)The photo in question is said to capture the Skunk Ape, an ape-like creature that cryptozoologists claim lives in the southeastern United States, especially in Florida's swamps and forests. Reports of this creature date back to 1818 when a "man-sized monkey" was reportedly causing trouble in Apalachicola, Florida. In 1929, another sighting was reported at the Perky Bat Tower in the Florida Keys. The creature allegedly shook the tower and scared away the bats before disappearing into the woods. From the 1950s to the 1970s, there were many reports of the Skunk Ape in Florida, with sightings from nearly every county. While the creature in the photo may look like a Skunk Ape, it is impossible to know for sure.
Unbelievable Sight in 1928 - Is This A Woman Speaking On A Cell Phone
(reddit)An Irish filmmaker claims to have found evidence of time travel in a DVD of a Charlie Chaplin film. While watching the extra footage, he saw a woman who appeared to be talking on a cell phone at the 1928 premiere of the film. However, the first cell phone was not invented until 45 years later. Some people are skeptical of this claim, but the filmmaker believes that the only explanation is that the woman is a time traveler.
Others have suggested that the woman may have been holding an old-fashioned hearing aid that had to be held up to the face, similar to how cell phones are held today. Another possibility is that the woman was adjusting her hat or hiding her face from the camera. While the mystery remains unsolved, it is clear that people are fascinated by the possibility of time travel and the idea of someone from the future visiting the past.
The Naga Lights Over The Mekong River
(reddit)The Naga fireballs, also referred to as "Mekong lights" or bung fai phaya nak, have long been a source of intrigue among those who call the Mekong River home. Every year, these glowing orbs purportedly emerge from the river, ascending high into the sky of their own accord. Eyewitnesses describe these spheres as reddish in hue, ranging in size from tiny sparks to basketball-sized balls, and accelerating skyward at a dizzying pace before vanishing entirely.
The frequency of fireballs reported varies widely, with some accounts claiming to see only a handful while others assert that they've observed thousands in a single evening. This phenomenon is often attributed to the phaya nak - a gargantuan serpent said to dwell within the Mekong.
From Weather Balloons to UFOs - Unraveling the Biggest Mystery of the 1940s and 50s
(wikipedia)Back in the 1950s and 1960s, people were seeing all kinds of crazy things in the sky. Some thought they were being visited by little green men from outer space, but as it turns out, it was just those pesky weather balloons causing all the commotion! These balloons were sent up to collect data about the atmosphere, but when people saw them floating around, they couldn't help but think they were witnessing an extraterrestrial invasion. Who knew that these harmless balloons could cause so much excitement (and confusion)? Maybe we should start putting little "I'm just a weather balloon" signs on them to avoid any more mistaken identities.
Twelve-year-old Dominique Perrot and his parents identifying a portal they witnessed to another dimension in 1976
(getty)In November to December 1973, a small house in La Machine (Nièvre) gained attention as a young boy named Dominique Perrot claimed to hear knocks on his bedroom wall every evening, convinced that a "spirit" wanted to speak to him. The boy's parents, worried about the situation, sought help from the local police. Despite their investigations, the officers were unable to rationally explain the origin of the noises. Police officer Bernard Guilbert was informed by the teenager's parents and went to the scene with his tape recorder, determined to solve the mystery. He recorded almost thirty minutes of the strange noises on magnetic tape, but to this day, it remains unclear what the young boy was actually hearing.
In the 1950s, The US Government Made Fake Towns And Filled Them With Mannequins For Nuclear Testing
(AP)During the mid-1900s, technicians created imitation towns in the Nevada desert called "doom towns" to test the impact of atomic blasts on populated areas. These fake towns were blown up to see how the structures, including wooden-frame homes, cars, and mannequins, would withstand a nuclear explosion. In one instance, the United States dropped a 16-kiloton bomb on a "doom town" to see if the structures could survive the blast. It's important to note that no real people were present during these tests.
A Shadow Is All That Remains Of A Man Incinerated By The Atomic Bomb That Dropped In Hiroshima, 1945
(reddit)On August 6th, 1945, when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, the heat was so intense that it incinerated people almost instantly, leaving behind only their shadows imprinted on surfaces. One photo, called "Human Shadow Etched in Stone," shows the shadow of a man sitting on a flight of stairs outside of the Sumitomo Bank in Hiroshima. The man was sitting only about 800 feet away from the bomb's detonation point, and he was so close that he essentially disappeared into vapor. This type of shadow is sometimes referred to as a "death shadow."
Dean Corrl's 29th Victim Remains A Mystery
(ABC News)A photograph of a boy who appeared to be handcuffed was found among the possessions of Elmer Wayne Henley, who was involved in the Candy Man case. Dean Corll, known as the Candy Man, tortured and killed at least 28 young males between 1970 and 1973. Filmmaker Josh Vargas discovered the photo and took it to Henley, who said he didn't remember the specific child but believed there were other victims still unidentified. Authorities and Vargas hope that the discovery of the Polaroid could help solve another cold case related to the Candy Man killings, which were considered the worst example of serial murder in America at the time. According to Vargas:
While rummaging through those pictures, this Polaroid falls out. I take a look at it and, right off the bat, having studied the case and the crime scene photos and everything, I see Dean’s toolbox, and I see his implements in that toolbox, and I see this kid right here with handcuffs on his arms... Even if we abandon the film project today, the greatest news could get would be that at least something came of this. Maybe somebody may recognize their son or brother. An 80-Foot-Long Monster Spotted Off the Coast of Australia
(reddit)The Hook Island sea monster is a cryptid, or an animal whose existence has not been proven by science. It is believed to live off the coast of Australia, near the Hook Island. The monster is said to be about 80 feet long and resembles a giant serpent. Although there have been reported sightings of the monster, there is no concrete evidence to support its existence.
The mystery of the Hook Island sea monster has been debated by scientists and cryptozoologists for many years. Some believe that the monster could be a type of undiscovered species, while others believe it is simply a hoax or misidentification of known marine creatures. Despite the lack of solid evidence, the legend of the Hook Island sea monster continues to intrigue and fascinate many people around the world.
Just A Normal Photo In The Woods... Or Is It?
(reddit)Picture this: you're out with some friends, hiking through the dense and tangled woods, enjoying the fresh air and the feeling of adventure. You stop to snap a few photos of yourself and your companions, the sun glinting through the trees and casting long shadows across the forest floor. But when you get back home and look at the pictures, you're suddenly filled with a sense of dread. There, in the background of every photo, is someone you don't recognize - a shadowy figure lurking just beyond the tree line, staring out at you with a blank and inscrutable gaze. You feel a shiver run down your spine, wondering who or what was watching you from the darkness of those woods. It's a chilling reminder that, even in the age of smartphones and social media, there are still some mysteries that can't be easily explained or dismissed.
An Alleged Photo Of The CSS Georgia
(reddit)During the American Civil War, a ship called CSS Georgia was built in 1862 by a group called The Ladies' Gunboat Association. They raised $115,000 to build the ship and protect Savannah, a city in the Confederate States. In 1864, during Sherman's March to the Sea, the ship was deliberately sunk to prevent it from being taken by the Union. For many years, people thought the ship was lost forever. In the 20th century, some pieces of the ship were found, but the whole ship was still missing. In 1986, a photo was found that was supposed to show the CSS Georgia, but after many people discussed it, they found out that the photo was actually a fake. It showed a small model of the ship, not the real one.
No One Knows The Identity Of The First Man Photographed
(reddit)Paris, the capital city, is known for its numerous legends and stories, but it has also played a significant role in scientific innovations. One such innovation is credited to Louis Daguerre, who captured the first-ever picture of a human being in Paris in 1838. The photograph was taken on the Boulevard du Temple, which was infamous for the murders enacted every night in its many theaters. Although the exposure time was ten minutes, and many of the movements were too fast to be captured, the photograph still managed to immortalize a recognizable human form. In the photograph, a man can be seen polishing his shoes on the left, while the shoe-shine boy is blurry. These two individuals are believed to be the first-ever photographed people, although their identities remain unknown.
The Mysterious Margate Family
(reddit)The 'Margate family' photographs were collected by Bernard Howarth-Loomes, who purchased them as a set. One of the pictures shows the resort's name, Margate, written on the small boy's bucket, indicating where the photos were taken. However, the identity of the family remains unknown. Researchers studying the photographs believe that the family was on a holiday since the father is not wearing a bow tie and the younger son is wearing a sailor top.
The Tourist In The Reagan Red Square Photo
(Pete Souza/Radio Free Europe)The photograph captures a young man wearing a camera on the side of the picture, standing next to Ronald Reagan who is about to shake hands with a small boy. In the background, there are Soviet officials dressed in grey suits, and the photo was taken during the US president's visit to Moscow's Red Square in 1988. The identity of the young man has caused a mystery, with some suggesting that he may be Vladimir Putin, the current Russian Prime Minister. Pete Souza, President Obama's official photographer, believes that the young man in the cream-colored slacks and short-sleeved shirt is indeed Putin. Some suggest that Putin, who was a KGB recruit at the time, may have been trying to question Reagan about his human rights record. However, Putin's press spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, denies that the young man in the photo is Putin.
Is That Really A Truck In A Tree?
(reddit)This picture may look like a fake edited image, but it's actually a real photo of a man standing in front of the "Truck in the Tree" located on Interstate 43 near mile marker 6, just outside Clinton, Wisconsin. The truck is a 1959 1/2 ton Chevy Fleetside pick-up that was put in the tree by a man called "Madman" Mark Madson while building a treehouse for his son. He explained:
When my son Luke told me he needed some help to build a Tree House, he had no idea what he was in for. It seems as if the tree was made to hold my truck, because it fits perfectly between the two massive trunks of the tree. It fits so tight in fact, that Luke and his buddies had to crawl in through the windows, Dukes of Hazzard style. Once they were inside, they could drive anywhere their imagination would take them. With the sounds of Interstate Highway 43 and the sway of the tree in the breeze, it wasn’t hard to make believe that you’re Peter Pan! Of course, he had to provide his own engine sounds, while the radio played his favorite songs. The box of the pickup provides plenty of room to play, or to just lay back and watch the clouds drift by.Did Duccio Spot a UFO in 1300?
(public domain)The painting titled "Madonna and Child with the Infant St John" is located in the Hercules Room of the Palazzo Vecchio and is commonly known as "Our Lady of the Flying Saucer." It was painted in the 15th century by artists like Domenico Ghirlandaio, Filippino Lippi, Sebastiano Mainardi, or Jacopo del Sellaio, and features the Madonna with the infant Christ and St John the Baptist. Interestingly, St John is the Patron Saint of Florence, so he may have played a role in the painting's commission.
The painting's controversy arises from a small spot in the sky above Mary's shoulder that resembles a domed metal craft, like a B-movie flying saucer. On the ground below, a man and his dog seem to be staring at the object. However, art historians suggest that the bright cloud with some of the original gilding intact was likely the same luminous cloud present in other paintings of the Nativity or Adoration where a shepherd looks at it with wonder, often with an angel emerging from it. Although it is a fun mystery, the painting may not depict an alien invasion, but rather the same bright cloud often found in similar paintings.
Where Did This Unbelievable Pile of Chairs Come From?
(my modern met)At first glance, it might seem like a massive prank played on the people of Istanbul, but it is, in fact, a spatial art installation. Artist Doris Salcedo created an artwork named "1550 Chairs Stacked Between Two City Buildings" for the Istanbul Biennial, where she placed 1,550 chairs between two buildings in 2003 to represent the masses of faceless migrants who support our globalized economy. In 2002, Salcedo created another installation at the Palace of Justice in Bogota, where she placed 280 chairs to honor those who died in a failed guerrilla coup seventeen years earlier.
Unidentified Light on Mars Captured by Curiosity
(NASA)In June 2019, NASA's Curiosity Rover captured a series of images on Mars, and one of them showed a bright blip that did not appear in any other image. This is one of the many mysteries of Mars. The rover also captured a similar glow on the horizon in 2014, which NASA's Doug Ellison believes was a cosmic ray hit. Galactic cosmic rays are particles accelerated to near the speed of light that come into our solar system from other stars or even galaxies. Scientists are concerned about how to protect astronauts on Mars from the effects of radiation from cosmic rays. Apollo astronauts also reported seeing faint spots or flashes of light in the cabin when it was dark, which NASA attributed to cosmic rays.
Witness the Unsolved Mystery of the Sky - The Hessdalen Lights
(reddit)For years, people in Hessdalen, a valley near Røros in Trøndelag county, Norway, have observed unexplained lights in the nearby mountains. These lights can appear for a few seconds or much longer, move quickly or sway slowly, and even hang in mid-air. The first observation of these lights, known as the Hessdalen phenomena, was made on December 8, 1981, by Åge and Ruth Marry Moe, who saw "a burning fireball" from their kitchen window. Many other locals have reported sightings of these lights over the years, prompting researchers from Østfold University College to investigate. Despite their efforts, the cause of the Hessdalen phenomena remains unknown, but a 2007 paper suggested that the lights could be due to rare-earth element scandium deposits reacting rapidly with acids and air, creating a burning dust cloud that hovers or moves on the wind. A more recent hypothesis suggests that a cluster of macroscopic Coulomb crystals in a plasma produced by the ionization of air and dust by alpha particles during radon decay in the dusty atmosphere may be the cause of the Hessdalen lights.
Unlocking the Mystery Of A 400-Year-Old Timepiece
(reddit)In 2008, a team of archaeologists and journalists filming a documentary were conducting excavations at a sealed tomb dating back to the Ming Dynasty in Shangsi, southern China, when they made a puzzling discovery. As they were clearing soil from a coffin before opening it, they found a small, golden ring with a watch face on its front, approximately two millimeters thick. The hands on the watch showed that the time had frozen at 10:06 and the back of the ring had the word "Swiss" or "Switzerland" written in English. This was strange because Switzerland, as we know it today, did not exist during the Ming Dynasty, which ended in 1644, and the artifact, a Swiss ring watch, only dates back to the last century. Some suggest that the tomb may not have been as secure as initially believed, allowing early tomb raiders or explorers to gain access. Others propose that if the watch had been dropped within the last century, a rodent may have carried it into the tomb. The idea of time travelers from the future leaving the watch behind is also intriguing but has little evidence to support it.
An Unexpected Sight in a Family Photo
(reddit)There are many stories of ghosts appearing in family photographs. These are often attributed to technical glitches or issues with the camera, such as double exposure or lens flare. However, some people believe that these ghosts are real and are appearing in the photos to communicate with their loved ones. The idea of capturing a loved one's ghost in a photograph can be comforting for some, while for others it can be frightening. Despite the many theories and beliefs surrounding ghostly apparitions in family photos, there is no scientific evidence to support their existence. Therefore, whether or not these photos actually show ghosts remains a topic of debate and personal belief.
Our Lady of Zeitoun
(reddit)Between April 1968 and 1971, people in Cairo, Egypt reported seeing a woman dressed in white on the roof of Saint Mary's Coptic Church. The phenomenon was first seen by two Muslim bus mechanics who thought the woman was a nun about to commit suicide by jumping from the roof. They alerted the police, who tried to disperse the growing crowd by saying it was just a reflection from the street lamps. However, a church custodian suggested the figure was the Virgin Mary, and the sightings continued for several years, sometimes occurring two or three times a week. Many photos of the event exist, although some are of poor quality. According to Coptic tradition, Zeitoun is near one of the locations where the Holy Family stayed during their flight into Egypt.
Some writers believe that the sightings should be understood in the context of their time. They happened during a difficult period in Egypt's history and reflected a common belief that the country's loss in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war was because they had turned away from faith and towards human-made ideas. Two sociologists, Robert Bartholomew and Erich Goode, suggest that the sightings at Zeitoun were an example of mass hysteria, and that people who believed in the Virgin Mary were more likely to interpret the lights as a sign from her because of their religious background and expectations.
Unseen Specter Captured in Prayerful Moment
(reddit)Some people believe that the ghosts of our loved ones who have passed away can appear in photographs. This is often referred to as a "spirit photograph." The idea is that the spirit of the deceased loved one can appear as an image on the film or in a digital photo. However, skeptics argue that these images are often the result of tricks of the light or other photographic anomalies. While there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of spirit photographs, many people find comfort in the idea that their loved ones may still be present with them in some form.
Do You See The Figure In Bachelor's Grove.... Look Closer
(reddit)Bachelor's Grove, a cemetery located outside Chicago, has a reputation for being one of the most haunted places in the region. People have reported seeing ghosts and other unexplained phenomena here for over a century. The area used to be like a park, with a pond for fishing and swimming, but as it became more isolated, it fell into disrepair and became a target for vandalism. Some people believe that graves were opened and caskets removed, which led to the area becoming haunted. Others believe that black magic and occult activities were to blame. People have reported seeing a ghostly woman sitting on a tombstone and a ghostly horse pulling a plow with an old man on it. Some have also seen ghost cars on the nearby road that appear and disappear.
Mysterious Woman Of The St. Augustine Lighthouse - Who is She?
(reddit)The St. Augustine Lighthouse is a tall structure on the northern side of Anastasia Island, and has been standing there since the mid-1500s. It has witnessed a lot of history from the colonization of the Americas to the birth of a nation, and has always been a symbol of hope. Some people have claimed to have seen strange things at the lighthouse such as a woman on the stairs watching over the area, but who is she?
Maria Mestre de los Dolores was the first woman to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1859. She was also the first Hispanic-American woman to command a federal shore installation, the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Her husband, Joseph Andreu, was the caretaker of the lighthouse, but he tragically died. Maria followed in his footsteps and was heartbroken. Visitors have reported seeing her on the catwalk, looking down to where her husband had died. The St. Augustine Lighthouse is known for its haunted history and is a place that leaves a mark on its visitors.
Is This Man In Goggles Really Running Across Water?
(reddit)This unexplainable photograph of a man in a scuba outfit running across a flooded cityscape in front of a bus of onlookers is in all likelihood Photoshopped, but out of context it looks as if there’s some kind of aquatic superhuman running around the eastern hemisphere. Even though this photo is probably a composite of multiple images that doesn’t make it any less strange to look at.
Big Foot Sightings Happen To This Day
(reddit)Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a cryptid that has been the subject of much mystery and debate for many years. This creature is said to be a large, hairy, bipedal hominid that inhabits remote areas of the Pacific Northwest region of North America. The existence of Bigfoot has been reported for centuries, with many people claiming to have seen or heard the creature. Despite numerous sightings and reported encounters, there has been no conclusive evidence of Bigfoot's existence, and skeptics argue that the creature is nothing more than a legend or a hoax.
Many theories have been put forward to explain the existence of Bigfoot, with some suggesting that it is a surviving remnant of a prehistoric ape or hominid. Others believe that it is simply a large, unknown species of primate that has managed to elude scientific detection. However, until definitive evidence is found, the mystery of Bigfoot remains unsolved. Despite the lack of concrete proof, the fascination with this elusive creature continues to captivate the imaginations of many people around the world, and the search for Bigfoot remains an active pursuit for some.
Unbelievable Discovery - A 15-inch Mummified Finger Known As "Bir Hooker"
(reddit)The Bir Hooker is a mystery surrounding a mummified finger that was allegedly discovered by Swiss antiquities dealer Gregor Spörri while on a dig in Egypt in 1988. The finger is about 35 centimeters long and appears to be made of petrified flesh and bone. According to Spörri, the finger was found in a dusty old chest at the home of a grave robber who claimed to have taken it from a tomb in Egypt in the 1960s. Some experts have analyzed the finger and have claimed that it is human-like, but much larger than any human finger ever recorded.
The mystery surrounding the Bir Hooker has led to many speculations about its origins. Some people believe that it may have belonged to a giant human or a member of an ancient civilization that has since been lost to history. Others believe that it could be evidence of extraterrestrial life. Despite its mysterious origins, the Bir Hooker remains a topic of fascination and debate among those interested in ancient artifacts and mysterious discoveries.
Unsolved Mystery on Mars - What Made the Rock Appear?
(reddit)The scientists who operate the Opportunity rover on Mars have been exploring the planet for 10 years. In 2014, they were surprised to discover a rock that had appeared just a few feet away from the rover. This was unexpected because in previous photos of the area, there was no sign of a rock in that spot. The scientists named the rock "Pinnacle Island" and have been trying to figure out how it got there.
At an event celebrating the decade since the rover landed on Mars, Steve Squyres, the lead scientist of the mission, shared the discovery of the rock. He explained that the team was startled by the sudden appearance of the rock, and they have only two theories about how it ended up there: either the rover "flipped" the rock while maneuvering, or it landed there after a nearby meteorite impact event. The scientists believe the first theory is the most likely explanation.
Unveiling the Mysterious Pyramid in the Space
(reddit)NASA's Apollo 17 mission to the moon in 1972 is known for its interesting photographs, including one that has caused controversy among UFO enthusiasts. The image, labeled AS17-135-20680HR, appears to show a pyramid-like structure on the lunar surface. However, closer examination reveals that it was a low-quality image of the LVR under unique lighting conditions. Despite this explanation, some UFO hunters still wonder if there is more to the story and if there are structures on the moon that have not been disclosed.
The Apollo 17 mission itself was the last manned lunar exploration mission, and it is known for its unique characteristics such as being the only Saturn V night launch. The mission successfully landed in Taurus-Littrow and returned samples to Earth. However, the mysterious image has captured the imagination of those who believe in extraterrestrial life and has spurred debates about what really exists on the moon.
A Man Walks Down the Street with a Lion on a Leash
(reddit)Keeping lions, tigers, and other exotic animals as pets is a real phenomenon that raises many concerns about safety and animal welfare. Despite the inherent danger of owning wild animals, some people are drawn to the idea of owning a "unique" pet. However, exotic animals require specialized care and can become aggressive as they mature. This puts the owner, as well as the animal, at risk of harm. Additionally, keeping wild animals in captivity can be inhumane as it denies them the opportunity to live a natural life in their native habitats. Animal welfare organizations and experts caution against keeping exotic animals as pets, advocating for stronger laws and regulations to protect both humans and animals from the dangers of this practice.
A Mysterious Extra Hand In The Photo
(reddit)In this puzzling photograph, there is something strange happening - someone is giving a thumbs up, but who could it be? At first glance, the photo appears normal, but the way the boys are positioned, it is impossible for any of them to be making the gesture. It is possible that someone is hiding behind them or the digital photography created an illusion. Although we may never know the truth, it is still an interesting image to ponder.
A Tree Grown Around a Tire - What's the Story?
(reddit)Trees have the incredible ability to grow and adapt to their environment. In some instances, trees have even grown through and around objects such as signs, fences, and even tires. The phenomenon of a tree growing through and around a tire occurs when the tree is young and flexible, and the object is left in one spot for an extended period. As the tree grows, it incorporates the tire into its structure, wrapping its roots around and over the object. Over time, the tire becomes an integral part of the tree, and it can even take on its shape. While this phenomenon may seem strange, it is a testament to the remarkable power of nature to adapt and overcome obstacles.
Astonishing Sight - An Elephant in a Bird's Nest
(reddit)It's a strange phenomenon to see elephants eating bird nests, as they are known to be herbivores. It's unclear whether they do it because they enjoy munching on the vegetation in the nests, or if they have a taste for eggs. It's rare to catch sight of this happening, which makes it even more confounding. Researchers suggest that it may be a sign of habitat destruction and that elephants are turning to alternative food sources due to a lack of their usual vegetation. Some also speculate that the behavior may be passed down from older elephants who learned to do this during periods of drought when other food sources were scarce. Regardless of the reason, it's a fascinating and puzzling sight to witness.
CCTV Footage Of The Hampton Court Ghost Known As "Skeletor"
(youtube)During winter 2003, the security staff at Hampton Court Palace responded to an unusual occurrence near the palace's Clock Court. The same fire door was found wide open on three consecutive days, without any apparent reason. The CCTV footage from the first day showed the doors being pushed open with great force. However, the second day's footage captured a ghostly-looking figure in period dress suddenly appearing on the screen and closing the doors. Although the doors opened again on the third day, there was no sign of the ghostly figure. Even a visitor wrote in the palace's visitor book that she thought she had seen a ghost in that area. This CCTV footage caught the attention of the world's media, with reports in newspapers, TV, and radio around the world, leading to the nickname "Skeletor."
Protect Your Neck! Incredible Stunt By A Young Guitarist
(reddit)We're not totally sure why someone would want to literally do chin-ups while playing guitar but this guy is accomplishing his goals and crushing the haters who said that whatever this is couldn't be done. This is one of those photos that's unexplainable simply because it doesn't make sense for anyone to act this way. In all likelihood this guy is just fooling around with his buddies.
Man's Brave Attempt to Conquer the Swirly Ladder!
(reddit)This photo is pure chaos. We're not exactly certain how this person fit themselves into the metal loops of this playground structure, and we really have no idea how they're going to get out. The only thing that we can say for sure is that we're happy that someone had the foresight to capture this image for all time. It's a reminder to not only think before you make a decision, but to always be prepared for anything (especially when it's someone getting stuck in a children's toy).
Is This A Photo Of A Mysterious 9/11 Attack Survivor
(reddit)On September 11, 2001, the United States experienced a series of four suicide terrorist attacks carried out by the extremist group al-Qaeda. Nineteen hijackers took over four commercial airliners that were scheduled to fly from the East Coast to California. The first two planes were flown into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and the third into the Pentagon in Virginia. After the tragic events of that day, a photograph captured a woman standing on a piece of debris and waving for help. It's unclear how she survived the initial attack or what happened to her after the photo was taken. Some people wonder if the photo was manipulated or if she actually survived the attack.
Mysterious Death of Elisa Lam- A Tragic Tale of Fear and Unanswered Questions
(reddit)Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old Canadian student who died under mysterious circumstances at the Stay on Main hotel in Downtown Los Angeles in February 2013. Her disappearance was initially reported by her parents, and her body was later found in one of the hotel's water tanks after guests complained about the water quality. The case became notorious due to the strange circumstances surrounding Lam's death and the lack of clarity surrounding the events leading up to it. An elevator surveillance video taken shortly before her disappearance showed Lam acting erratically and strangely, leading to speculation that she was being pursued or was under the influence of drugs. Despite numerous investigations and media coverage, the case remains unsolved and has become a topic of much interest and speculation in popular culture.
There's No Crime Like Horse Crime
(reddit)In the photo, there is a horse standing inside of a building. Beside the horse, there is a man lying on his side, as if he has been hurt or something bad has happened to him. The man's position suggests that he may be a victim of a crime, such as robbery or assault. It is possible that the horse and the man are connected to the crime, but it is difficult to tell from the photo alone. It is important to investigate further to determine what has happened and ensure that the man receives any necessary medical attention. Also, it could just be someone goofing off. Let's hope it's that.
Mystery Of The Lingering Soldier
(reddit)This photograph was taken in 1919 and was first published in 1975 by Sir Victor Goddard, a retired R.A.F. officer. The photo is a group portrait of Goddard’s WW1 RAF squadron, taken at their HMS Daedalus training facility where they had served during the war. However, if you look closely, there appears to be an extra face in the photo. Over the years, many people have speculated that the face belongs to the ghost of pilot Freddy Jackson. Sir Goddard said of the photo:
Well, there he was, and no mistake, although a little fainter than the rest. Indeed he looked as though he was not altogether there; not really with the group, for he alone was capless, smiling, all the rest were serious and set and wearing service caps. Most had not long returned from Church Parade and marching in a military funeral. For Freddy Jackson had, upon that very spot—the Squadron tarmac—three days before, walked heedlessly into the whirling propeller of an aeroplane. He had been killed stone dead instantly. He, evidently, was still quite unaware of it.Nature's Revenge - Man Falls Into A Cactus Bed
(reddit)The strangest thing about this photo is that it exists without context. We have no idea why this guy is covered in cacti, if he fell into a bunch of these pokey plants or if something more insidious was at play. Either way, it really had to hurt. Falling into a cactus bed can be very painful and dangerous. Cacti have sharp spines that can pierce through clothing and skin, causing injury and infection. Additionally, some species of cacti have barbed spines that can easily detach from the plant and become lodged in the skin, making them difficult to remove. Falling into a cactus bed can also cause damage to the cacti themselves, which are important members of the desert ecosystem. It is important to stay on designated trails and avoid walking near cacti to prevent accidentally falling into a cactus bed.
The Spectre of Newby Church
(wikipedia)The Spectre of Newby Church, also known as the Newby Monk, is a figure that appears in a photograph taken at the Church of Christ the Consoler, located on the grounds of Newby Hall in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. The photo was taken in 1963 by the Reverend Kenneth F. Lord. Many people have speculated about the identity of the figure, which appears to resemble a human. Some believe it is a 16th-century monk wearing a white shroud over his face to conceal disfigurement, while others think it could be a person wearing a costume. Some have claimed that the figure is 9 feet tall, but this is not confirmed. Experts have analyzed the photo and concluded that it is not the result of double exposure. However, some individuals, such as Rick Burden of the Ghost Hunters of Australia website, believe that it is a hoax similar to other double exposure tricks.
A Photo Of Soldiers Allegedly Posing With A Dinosaur
(Supplied)There is a photograph that some people claim shows Confederate soldiers from the American Civil War posing with a dinosaur. However, this is a hoax. Even though some conspiracy theorists have used it as evidence that humans and dinosaurs coexisted, there is no evidence that this is true. It's unlikely that humans and dinosaurs ever encountered each other, especially soldiers from the 19th century. Unfortunately, people may find these fake pictures entertaining, but they can be misleading and cause confusion about historical facts.
The Brown Lady
(reddit)This photograph, taken by English photographer Captain Hubert C. Provand in 1936, is considered one of the most famous "ghost" photos. It appeared in Country Living magazine and was widely believed to be a real image of a ghost. Over time, many myths and stories have been associated with the photo. However, modern skeptics have determined that the photo is most likely a double-exposure, which means that two images were merged together to create the final picture.
This Spooky Portrait Appears To Show An Other-Worldly Hand Resting On An Unsuspecting Mill Worker
(getty)A spooky photo of linen mill girls from 1900 has been discovered, and it seems that the picture includes more than just the living girls. The black and white photograph shows 15 young women posing in their work uniforms at a mill in Belfast. Most of the girls have their arms folded in front of them for the group picture. However, upon closer examination, there appears to be something unusual in the photo. In the third row from the top, on the far right side, a young woman has a hand on her shoulder that looks like a claw. The woman behind her has her arms folded, so it's not her hand. The hand seems to be resting on the girl's back as if it were a friend embracing her from the side. The hand has distinct details, such as the bend of the fingers and the thumbnail, which are visible when the photo is enlarged. So what's going on here? We may never know.
Behold, The Phoenix Lights
(wikipedia)In March of 1997, thousands of people reported seeing unusual lights in the sky. The incident is referred to as "the Phoenix Lights," and it consisted of two separate occurrences. One was a triangular formation of lights that moved over the state, and the other was a group of stationary lights seen in the Phoenix area. Although many experts have attempted to explain the phenomenon, it still remains a mystery as to what was actually seen that day.
Researchers have investigated the incident and found that it was likely caused by Operation Snowbird, a pilot training program that was being run by the Air National Guard out of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Tucson astronomer and retired Air Force pilot James McGaha believes that both sightings can be traced back to A-10 "Warthog" aircraft flying in formation at high altitude.
Shortly after the incident, Arizona Governor Fife Symington III held a press conference where he made light of the situation by joking about an aide dressed in an alien costume. However, in 2007, Symington admitted to having a personal close encounter with an alien spacecraft but did not want to cause a panic among the public. Symington, who is also a pilot, described the spacecraft as being larger than anything he had ever seen and considers the incident a great mystery that responsible people witnessed.
The S. S. Watertown Ghosts
(reddit)In December 1924, two crew members of the S.S. Watertown, James Courtney and Michael Meehan, were cleaning a cargo tank of the oil tanker when they were overcome by gas fumes and died. The rest of the crew buried them in the sea, but the next day they were surprised to see ghostly faces of the men in the water. As time went on, many other crew members also reported seeing the faces. The faces were so clear that the captain of the ship ordered a picture to be taken of them. The negative was checked for signs of forgery and was confirmed to be genuine.
William Hope, A Pioneer Of Spirit Photography, Took This Photo Of A Couple And An Alleged Female Spirt, Circa 1920
(public domain)In the early 20th century, spirit photography became a popular fad. The practice involved taking pictures of people and claiming that the images captured the spirits of deceased loved ones. William Hope was one of the pioneers of this practice, and he became well-known for producing these types of photos. Hope would often claim that he could communicate with the dead and that the spirits of the deceased could be captured through his camera. Despite being debunked as a fraud by skeptics, Hope continued to produce and sell his spirit photographs. While the practice of spirit photography has since fallen out of favor, it remains an interesting chapter in the history of photography and the supernatural.
This Photo Of The Library At Combermere Abbey, Which Possible Includes The Late Lord Combermere Sitting In His Favorite Chair
(public domain)According to legend, an amateur photographer named Sybell Corbet took a photo of the empty library in Combermere Abbey during Lord Combermere's funeral, which was taking place four miles away. The photograph shows what appears to be an apparition sitting in Lord Combermere's chair. Some people believe that the apparition is actually Lord Combermere himself, returning to his library soon after his death. While this idea is appealing, there is no concrete evidence to support it.
Look Closer At The Figure Lurking In The Darkness
(reddit)In the world of paranormal photography, few things are as unsettling as the appearance of shadow figures in digital images. These dark and indistinct forms seem to lurk at the edges of our perception, half-glimpsed but never fully seen. They may manifest as faint outlines against a bright background, or as looming shapes that seem to defy the laws of light and physics. Some believe that these figures are the product of camera glitches or other technical anomalies, while others see them as evidence of a more supernatural presence, hinting at the existence of other realms or dimensions just beyond our grasp. Whatever the explanation, there's no denying the eerie and unsettling nature of these shadow figures, and the way they seem to embody the sense of the uncanny and the unknown that pervades the world of the paranormal.
