Harlow Edwards mowed down and killed by car as she walked home with her brother and sister
DEVASTATED friends told last night how little Harlow Edwards was knocked down and killed just days before a family birthday party.
The two-year-old died when a car mounted the pavement and ploughed into her as she walked with big sister Dionne, 17, and brother Leon, five.
As family members kept a vigil at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for her seriously injured siblings last night, it emerged Dionne is due to celebrate her 18th next week.
A neighbour said: “My heart goes out to the family. They’re lovely — Dionne is very polite and respectful and was always with her brothers and sister.
“She was supposed to be having a big party next weekend for her 18th.”
The three were walking near their home in Coupar Angus, Perthshire, Scotland at around 3pm, when a people carrier smashed into another motor then hit them.
It is believed they had just picked up Leon from school.
A witness said: “The three of them were lying on the grass and the paramedics were round about them. The air ambulance came over twice.
“I’ve been told the father of the kids is offshore just now. It’s heartbreaking to think what the family must be going through.”
Witnesses say Dionne was sent flying 30ft through the air while little Harlow and her brother Leon were thrown over a wall by the impact.
It is believed the 23-year-old driver who hit them was overtaking a line of cars at speed when he clipped one and ploughed into the kids, the Daily Record reports.
Safety campaigner Dave Mason, 60, said the 30mph spot where they were hit is plagued by speeding drivers.
