Melinda Trask

Melinda Trask is the aggressive District Attorney in Salem. She was in charge of prosecuting Sami Brady for the murder of Joe Bernardi, but failed to get a conviction when Sami was cleared for shooting Bernardi while defending Rafe Hernandez. Trask later tried Hope Brady for the murder of Stefano DiMera, and Hope received 25 years in prison with no chance of parole, though she didn't serve her time as it appeared Stefano may be alive after all.

When Abigail Deveraux was diagnosed with DID, Trask tried to get Chad DiMera to commit her to Bayview permanently for the protection of himself and their young son, Thomas. Trask bears a grudge against Gabi Hernandez because she was released from prison early in the murder of Nick Fallon. Trask is now gunning for Gabi again, this time for kidnapping and drugging Abigail. She warned Abigail if she wouldn't testify against her, she would prosecute Chad.

It was revealed that the young woman JJ rescued from attempted suicide, who works at the hospital, Hayley Chen, is Trask's younger sister, and she is helping her stay in the United States illegally. Trask is running for mayor.
