Basketball Fight To Blame For Shooting At Maryland LA Fitness, Police Say
Nelson Ballard III, 24, has been identified and charged for his alleged role in a shooting that was reported at LA Fitness in the 9400 block of Ruby Lockhart Boulevard in Glenarden last week, resulting in one man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the Prince George's County Police Department, officers were called to the gym at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11 to investigate a shooting. They found one person injured inside who was rushed to an area hospital, where he remains a week later in critical, but stable condition.
According to FOX, the victim was shot six or seven times.
It is believed the shooting was in regards to an argument the two had over a basketball game.
The investigation led detectives to identify Ballard as a suspect. He was taken into custody on April 17.
Ballard was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, weapons, and other related offenses. No details about his next court appearance were released by the police.
The shooting remains under investigation.
