Allentown Man ID'd After House Fire: Coroner
Richard 'Rick' A. Omick of Allentown was pronounced dead at the scene at his home at 3116 Essex Road, Allentown, Salisbury Township at 9:08 p.m. on Sept. 18, as detailed by the Lehigh Valley Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.
It is unclear if anyone else was hurt or how the fire started.
His cause of death was "smoke inhalation and thermal injuries due to house fire," Buglio said. "I will rule on the manner of death upon completion of the fire investigation."
Rick's death is being investigated by the Salisbury Township Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.
Rick was a property Maintenance Director/Supervisor "with a highly successful 25-year work history directing maintenance and repair operations in both apartment communities and manufacturing/warehouse facilities," according to his LinkedIn.
Funeral and memorial service details have not been released.
This is one of three deadly fires in Pennsylvania that Daily Voice has reported on in less than 24 hours. A grandfather died in a home explosion and house fire in Elizabethtown on Monday morning and the Loganville zoning board chair and a former mayoral candidate died after being rescued from a house fire on Tuesday morning.
